Dir. Antoine Prum, 28’, 2012
Recorded at Studio 1, Künstlerhaus Bethanien, Berlin
In March 2010 Rüdiger Carl and Sven-Åke Johansson were invited by the Künstlerhaus Bethanien to perform a farewell concert in the formal setting of the main chapel in what was once a Deaconess hospital. The performance Tschüss Bethanien! is an homage to the genius loci of a building and its occupants, who have played an important part in shaping the Berlin art scene since the 1970s.

A film by Teresa Iten
Recorded at SÅJ Studio, Berlin

Wuppertal 85 (8’)
Recorded during Grenzüberschreitungen ’85 at die Börse, Wuppertal
"Rüdiger Carl looks like an East Prussian country squire who, after a few bottles of wine, has lapsed into an eerie state of introspection, his absent-minded concentration devoted solely to the unfurling sequences of sounds. Theatre music with hints of film scores. Or rather a drum poem, a late-Dadaist reading with musical accompaniment?
Sven-Åke Johansson’s countenance and gestures, his style of playing and recitative singing seem almost deranged, rising from the darkness of our century. A search for clues, which restages the circuitous paths of the unconscious, the hallucinations of the past, with hysterical humour and, simultaneously, maniacal precision – yes, it could be something along those lines. Riddled with musical references, unseemly objects and lost words.
In the meantime, for the audience’s edification, fifteen minutes of accordion music..."
