John Butcher

Our first encounter with John Butcher’s solo work goes back to a concert recorded in 2013 at Kingston University’s Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences in London, during the filming of Taking the Dog for a Walk, a documentary dedicated to the English experimental scene. It was a defining moment in our musical journey!
Since 2022, we’ve had the privilege of producing an ongoing series of albums that showcase the many sides of this major figure in improvised music.
Butcher’s performance at Morphine Raum will be recorded live. These recordings will form the basis of the eighth LP in our series devoted to his work. Additional studio sessions, recorded around the same time, will further enrich the project.

Anaïs Tuerlinckx

The evening will open with the Belgian pianist and artist Anaïs Tuerlinckx, who has been based in Berlin since 2008. On the Ni-Vu-Ni-Connu label, she can be heard in duo with Burkhard Beins on the remarkable triple album eight duos, released in 2024. Her solo performance at Morphine Raum — complemented by studio recordings in the coming weeks — will eventuate in a solo LP.
After Breath Vessels by Liz Allbee (coming out 6 December 2025) and Bodiless Organs by Boris Baltschun (scheduled for early 2026), this record will make Tuerlinckx the third artist featured in our new series dedicated to solo performances.
